The stage in our new sanctuary measured 60'x26'. The ceilings from stage floor measured 26' at it's highest point. It was a challenge to come up with a design to fill such a large space. Using Google Sketch-up was such a help. It allowed me to try different designs using exact measurements to see what worked best.
The four large panels are made up of small frames built with 1"x2" furring strips, which measured 80"x29.5" assembled. The raised wings are 20"x30" foam boards cut diagonally. I used hot glue to attatch the boards to 6" wood blocks that were screwed to each side of the 80"x29.5" frames. I off-set the attatchment of the 6" blocks to each side of the frame so that one side of each foam board would be raised creating a weave effect. Each finished frame was then joined by wood screws to each other to form the cross configuration.
The two upper panels are hung from the ceiling using wire cable. I used 10ft 2x4's to bulid a support frame for the two larger lower panels. Each completed 80"x29.5" frame was attatched individually using wood screws. The alignement of upper and lower panels was a challenge, but worth it.
